The breakthrough idea becomes reality:
Use PVC instead of wood for trim.

  • With advice from dealers and customers, AZEK’s predecessor, Compression Polymers, cuts PVC sheet into trim, the size of dimensional lumber.

  • AZEK Trim is launched under its original name “TrimTech 500.”

  • Moulding is introduced, including drip cap, crown mould, and brick mould.

  • AZEK introduces beadboard profiles for porch ceiling applications.

The idea for PVC trim came from a visit to Cape Cod, where beautiful seaside homes were suffering with rotting wood trim. But wood trim’s disadvantages — frequent painting, water damage, and eventual deterioration — would be things of the past after we made the first trim board out of PVC. Trimtech 500, the original name for AZEK Trim, invented a whole new category of building materials.
